Mayor's Report to Sea Isle City Council.

Another major project on the horizon is the replenishment of our beaches. At yesterday’s project meeting with the contractor, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock, and the Army Corps of Engineers, we were informed that the schedule is for mobilization onto our beaches to start next week, with sand pumping operations expected to start around mid-March. Our beaches are planned to be replenished downtown between about 29th and 52nd Street; and at the south end between about 74th and 94th Street. Currently, the contractor plans to complete the southern section first, with the entire project scheduled to be completed prior to Memorial Day weekend.

I’d also like to report on some good news we received last week. Sea Isle is the recipient of nearly $2 million in grants to improve our promenade. The funding is from the state’s boardwalk preservation fund established by the federal American Rescue Plan program. We’ll be preparing the engineering designs this year; and anticipate that the funding will go toward structural repairs, additional decorative lighting, and additional handicapped accessibility. We will not be building any additional pavilions as part of these projects.” -Leonard C. Desiderio, Mayor of Sea Isle City, New Jersey
